Recently I spent some time at the Sunshine based warehouse of West Welcome Wagon (WWW). This charity started with a movement of Inner Westies wanting to help by collecting goods for those in need. WWW now provides essential support (food, furniture and electrical equipment) to 500 asylum seekers each year in the Western suburbs.

These are people that literally arrive into Australia with the clothes on their back. WWW’s small team of volunteers who run their operation shared with me a story of attending to one woman who was sleeping on the floor in her house with her 4 week old baby. It brought a tear to my eye.

It’s so easy to support WWW. You can donate goods or money, or volunteer – especially if you have skills that can help keep their operating costs down such as repairs to fridges before they are delivered. Please spread the word about this important charity and help make home a haven for our fellow neighbours.
