I tell you something for nothing. Finding art is freaking hard. Trying to find a unique piece that’s the right size, colour, style AND price really is a part time job.

As I’ve moved through my house updating each of my rooms, I’ve found the process of finding the perfect art for each of these spaces painstakingly slow.

That’s because the art scene is damn overwhelming. There are a lot of high end pieces – that of course I love but are completely beyond the average budget – and then there is a lot of cheap stuff out there that can bog the old search engine down and leave any one miffed and disheartened.

So…. I thought it worth smashing out a little article for you providing some guidance on your search. Here are some of my favourite curated online stores for scouring; and some of my favourite artists that produce beautiful and affordable prints in great sizes that could be the perfect showstopper in your home, as well as well priced original pieces that you can invest in and treasure forever.

First up, let’s cover off some of the great sites that will provide variety in your art search….

I’ve found a number of great pieces on The Block Shop that now feature proudly around my house. But a little heads up…. there is a hella lotta artwork on there so it will take a while to work through the range but I’d suggest starting here to get a feel for the styles out there to then help to focus your search.

I’m obsessed with Greenhouse Interiors and suggest you stop there after you’ve worked The Block Shop hard. It is bold, colourful art central all up in the Greenhouse. Some of my fave artists you’ll discover in here are Georgie Wilson and Kimmy Hogan.

Next stop is Life Interiors and Oz Design where you will find a good range of more muted, destination and lifestyle options – including some great photographic prints.

Still looking for a wide range of inspo? Then United Interiors should be on your list. Abstract, animals and great kids art can be found here. All under the one virtual roof.

And before homing in on some specific artists and styles that I’m about to list out, please do also pop in to Bluethumb for all of your Australian artist needs.

So that ends the curated collections part of our tour. Let’s finish up with an after-dinner mint and some bullet pointed action on amazing artists I’d recommend get some of your attention:

And finally, if you have some retro, pop art style vibes running through your veins and love you some funky architecture like I do then please, end your tour at Habital Legit. There nothing some flamingos, palm trees and breeze blocks can’t do to bring some personality to your home!

There you have it. My whistle stop tour of the online art scene. I hope you can find the perfect piece for your home.
